Abstract
Patient satisfaction would be highly evaluated in the outcome of removable partial denture (RPD) treatments. Therefore, we recommend adding implants to the supporting system of RPDs, which previously depended only abutment teeth and mucosa. This is because the strong support ability of implants has the potential to completely change the stability and function of the conventional RPDs. However, new thinkings and ideas may be required to use the implants which have almost no displacement by occlusal pressure, with the mucosa and periodontal ligament in the same dentition. In addition, the concepts, designs, and surgical procedures of implant RPD (IRPD) are continually being refined, and the treatment patterns are becoming more diverse.
In this lecture, the latest technology and evidence regarding IRPD will be summarized, and IRPD designs, surgical procedures, attachment selection, ie, will be explained.
